From October 28 to November 2, 2025, the Rome International Seminar for Peace (promoted by Rome Tre University and supported by The Italian Cooperation AICS) and the World Conference of Directors were held in Rome at the Rectorate of Roma Tre University, promoted as part of the Jubilee of Hope 2025 in collaboration with the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Holy See.
The opening session of the Rome International Seminar was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Carlo Lo Cascio, and Ambassador Maurizio Massari from the Italian diplomatic mission to the United Nations in New York, who spoke via video message.
The international seminar concluded with the launch of the 2025 Jubilee World Directors Conference, which received a message from the UN Secretary-General in New York and is entitled “Universities, the New Path to Peace.”
Rectors from all over the world, especially from crisis areas, took part in the proceedings, and a dialogue and in-depth discussion was established between the various professionals. Thanks to the experience of AESI, represented by Professor Caneva and the President, it was possible to compare analyses and possible solutions to support peace in the dialogue between university diplomacy and military peacekeeping forces under the UN mandate.
This is the fundamental strategy that needs to be explored, promoted, and improved, so that we can prepare professionals such as ambassadors, university professors, or United Nations officials who are capable of analyzing, understanding, and communicating with each other in the various crisis scenarios that are arising around the world. We can no longer remain stuck with the training models that have characterized the preparation of international figures in previous years. We must create the conditions for synergy both at the institutional level and in the field so that new figures can be trained using this methodology, pioneered by AESI and the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
