AESI PRESIDENT AND EU PARLIAMENT DIRECTOR: COOPERATION 2027

AESI PRESIDENT
MESSAGE TO AESI 2027 STUDENTS

It is becoming increasingly clear that a strong partnership is developing rapidly between European institutions – such as the Parliament and the Commission and AESI.

On 13 October at ESPERIENZA Europa, the programme of seminars for AESI 2027 will be presented, highlighting the importance of the central theme of a Europe with greater international leadership that promotes a culture of peace and solidarity. This is evidenced by the interview between the AESI President and the Director of the European Parliament’s office in Italy, which can be viewed in the attached video.

Among the other speakers were the military adviser to the Prime Minister, the Italian Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, and a message from Lebanon from the Commander of the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission, who holds AESI’s work in the highest regard.

On 13 October, this launch event will be by invitation only and will certainly be open to newly enrolled students (of which, I would remind you, there are a maximum of 30 places). Registrations are already coming in, and we will finalise the eligibility process as soon as possible. To register, please follow the instructions in the ‘2027 New Enrolments’ news section carefully and proceed with the selection process for the eligibility interview, which will grant access to the 2027 seminars.

There is a need for a new international leadership to promote effective, stable and urgent reform of the United Nations; there is a need for European officials who know how to make greater use of diplomacy, whilst remaining firm on security issues, but who sincerely open the door to a dialogue that is not solely linked to increased arms production – which, unfortunately, often fails to yield significant results – but above all to an ability to analyse and understand what we call the diplomacy of solidarity.

The AESI seminars are designed for young people who wish to supplement their university education – which provides the necessary foundational knowledge for studying geopolitical treatises – with methodological training that only AESI offers in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and various international institutions: being a diplomat and an international civil servant today requires a new kind of training – one that is more flexible, better suited to understanding complex situations, more creative and less bureaucratic, yet underpinned by a strong personal commitment to the values of the United Nations Charter and the European Charter.
