MESSAGE 2022
PRESIDENT AESI
“Peace is possible because our students”
—
How much work in these long years with young university students! Precisely where worrying signs of crises and conflicts such as the former URSS, the Balkans, the Mediterranean, Lebanon and Cyprus, Israel and Palestine are now arriving.
We can say : PEACE IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE THE STUDENTS !
“All of us have always the great responsability to promote dialogue and peace. “University Leaders” of the Culture of Solidarity. We will continue to promote the new generations for better future !”

POPE FRANCIS
APPEAL FOR PEACE :
POPE FRANCIS APPEAL
My heart aches greatly at the worsening situation in Ukraine. Despite the diplomatic efforts of the last few weeks, increasingly alarming scenarios are opening up. Like me, many people all over the world are feeling anguish and concern. Once again the peace of all is threatened by partisan interests. I would like to appeal to those with political responsibility to examine their consciences seriously before God, who is the God of peace and not of war; who is the Father of all, not just of some, who wants us to be brothers and not enemies. I pray that all the parties involved refrain from any action that would cause even more suffering to the people, destabilising coexistence between nations and bringing international law into disrepute.
And now I would like to appeal to everyone, believers and non-believers alike. Jesus taught us that the diabolical senselessness of violence is answered with God’s weapons, with prayer and fasting. I invite everyone to make next 2 March, Ash Wednesday, a Day of Fasting for Peace. I encourage believers in a special way to dedicate themselves intensely to prayer and fasting on that day. May the Queen of Peace preserve the world from the madness of war.

May the United Nations have the courage to play a more significant role in crisis areas where dramatic conflicts are experienced often forgotten by the international community.
Promoting always the younger generations is an important commitment in facing future world challenges! AESI has this specific mission which sees the university as an important actor together with diplomacy and the peacekeepers

“It seems that the greatest prize for peace should be given to wars: a contradiction. We are attached to wars, and this is tragic. Humanity, which prides itself on being ahead in science, in thought, in so many beautiful things, is lagging behind in weaving peace. It is a champion in making war. And this makes us all ashamed. We must pray and ask forgiveness for this attitude.” (Pope Francis 18 February 2022)

Moscow, January 27, 2022:
(From the letter of Mons. Giovanni d’Amelio Apostolic Nuncio in Moscow to the President AESI)
“Dear Professor, I would like to congratulate the initiative in favor of university students preparing for the diplomatic service, which includes other seminars during the year, as well as expressing sincere thanks for the closeness with which it accompanies the particular moment in this region . I am sure that the initiative promoted by AESI will strengthen in the hearts of those who participate in it the desire to fulfill at best a mission to which we are all called and from which no one can exempt: being builders of peace, engineers of bridges, an opportunity for encounter, instruments of reconciliation and unity, in the authenticity of mutual respect. A commitment, which must also be translated into concrete actions, in favor of those who suffer for various reasons, remembering that peace, as Saint John XXIII said, rests on four pillars: truth, justice, freedom and love, and that, as it has underlined Pope Francis in his Encyclical “Fratelli Tutti”, it is built and consolidated in brotherhood and solidarity. I therefore hope that the initiative will continue to feed more and more these desires which, I am sure, already harbor in our hearts, so that each one can be a piece of a single large mosaic which, in the variety of its colors, represents the world united in the peace and brotherhood.”
