Prof. Caneva in collaboration with some Italian Universities and the University of Kendy has promoted a vast project of prevention and mitigation of natural risks in an area also affected by internal conflicts. Organize courses for persinale of the local Civil Protection with the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Colombo

The University Cooperation The Program has also facilitated dialogue between the parties in conflict through common participation in the various civil protection activities.

Universities must open up to new training and action strategies to prepare future peacemakers even in complex crisis situations such as these.

The United Nations should be ready to adopt new strategies to train its personnel for these Complex Crises developing much more the collaboration with the Academic World.
This lesson learned on 2004 is very important for the future programs of UN and EU in the complex crises management for prevention and care.
